Fort St. John RCMP say they were able to negotiate a peaceful end to a stand-off last night and arrest a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred early yesterday morning.

In what police believe was a targeted incident, a 37-year-old man was shot in the face inside a home in the 91-hundred block of 112th Avenue around 1am yesterday morning.  Police say the victim and the female homeowner had just returned to the residence when they encountered a man armed with a shotgun inside.  The suspect fled the scene.

The male victim was transported to hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries, and released later in the morning.

Throughout the day, RCMP attempted to locate the suspect and when he was spotted in the afternoon, the officer called for back-up and the vehicle did stop after a short pursuit.  Police negotiated with the suspect for more than three hours before convincing him to surrender peacefully.  A 52-year-old Fort St. John man is facing several charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault and break and enter.

RCMP say the suspect is well known to them and their investigation continues.
