This is the day  you have to get  your  Prince George municipal  taxes paid  without  facing a penalty.

29 thousand tax notices for Prince George have been sent out and Financial Services Manager Sandy Stribany says 92% will be returned by the deadline. "The City Hall doors close at 5:00 today" says Stribany,  "but the drop box is available and it will be cleared at midnight tonight."

You don't have to go to City Hall to ensure your bill is paid on time.  There is online internet access, in person payments at  financial institutions or over the phone.

It is too late to send in the payment by regular mail.

Failing to meet the deadline of midnight tonight means  a 5% penalty, and if the taxes are still not paid  by September 14th, there will be another 5% penalty.

The City of Prince George portion of the tax bill is expected to collect $63,250,000.00

That does not include the portion of the bill which covers Regional District, School District, 9-1-1, Municipal Finance Authority, and BC Assessment .

One would think that during those long line-ups at city hall to pay your inflated taxes, the mayor could have dropped in downstairs from time to time to have a chat with some of his tax paying serfs. But then again, who would want to hear all those excessive whining tirades about how crappy our roads are? Now I know why he made himself scarce.

He is saving his strength to march with the Vetrans on November 11,2008. He only appears on election years. See you there Colin.
