Prince George RCMP are praising the work of  passers-by in  applying first aid to two men from Edmonton who were involved in a crash last night.

The two were in a van heading northon highway 97 , when a moose came on to highway  from the east ditch.  The van collided with the moose,  then  continued across the highway and down a 10 foot embankment, coming to rest about 400  feet  from the initial point of  impact.

The jaws of life had to be used to  get the driver out of the  van.  The driver, and the passenger were taken to Prince George Regional Hospital suffering from facilial and upper body injuries.

Police  say  two semi-drivers, a local contractor and a  resident who lives about  half a kilometer southwest of the crash are to be commended for  applying first aid to the injured men until emergency services could arrive on the scene.

Perhaps a letter of appreciation from the Officer in charge of Prince George detachment would be in order?
A great idea !

Or a parking lot barbecue at the multiplex, or something like that.

Truckers have always been good for stopping to help. They know you have to depend on each other out on the highway.

People in Prince George, though, are much more likely to stop and help than in other cities. They've been like that ever since I've lived here and they still are.

Good job !
