There are two events taking place in Quesnel today that will have a positive impact on health services in that City.

This morning, the new, Community Cancer Unit at G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital will officially be opened.  This unit will provide community cancer services for the residents of Quesnel and area.  The development of this unit is part of the Northern Cancer Control Strategy.  That strategy is designed to help improve cancer prevention, early detection, treatment and palliative care.  The strategy is a joint initiative of Northern Health and the BC Cancer Agency.

Later today, there will be a ground breaking ceremony at the Dunrovin Park Lodge.  That ceremony will mark the start of the renovation and expansion of seniors care facilities at Baker Lodge and an upgrade of the intermediate care beds at Dunrovin Park Lodge to care for seniors with more extensive health needs.
