Terrane Minerals held an open house in Mackenzie yesterday to bring people up to speed on the developments with the Mount Milligan project.

Company reps say the latest drilling has produced results that are “even more favourable than  we had hoped.”

Terrane  minerals has spent nearly $9 million dollars on exploration this past year,$5.3 million on Mount Milligan, another $3.5 on adjacent properties.   Terrane is pleased to hear about the GeoScience BC “Quest” project which is aimed at trying to pinpoint mineral deposits in an area that has been virtually ignored in the past because of glacial till cover.  Company reps say communities will feel the ipositive impact from the exploration dollars, and the “Quest “ project will drive even more  investment.

GeoScience will be carrying out nearly $5million dollars in research this summer to map an area from north of Mackenzie to Williams Lake, and from Fort St. James to just east of Prince George.

The news of the GeoScience work has sparked interest from the mining sector as Lyn Angelin of GeoScience says there have been hundreds of claims staked in the subject region since the mapping project was announced just a few weeks ago.

Meantime, Terrane Minerals is  moving ahead one step at a time, meeting with  people in the vicinity of their proposed  mine, hoping they will be given the  approval to go ahead and  build the  mine which will create 700 construction jobs, and  400 jobs during the life of the mine.

Went to the open house in Fort st.James and
came away with a very positve outlook on the Mt.Milligan project.
Looks to me like it will actually happen depending on the mineral markets over the next couple of years.
IMO,I think it will be just fine and a big shot in the arm for both Mckenzie and Fort St.James
Vanderhoof should feel some economic impact as well.
I also think the government wants it to happen.
Could be tough times coming for the forest sector in general and the area will need all the help it can get!
