RCMP in Clinton are just releasing information today about a plane crash that occurred near that community on Friday.
Police say Search and Rescue responded to an emergency beacon at approximately 8:30pm on Friday evening and discovered the wreckage of a Cessna 340A, that had crashed while attempting to land on a home-made road cut into the bush near Vedette Lake.
Corporal Pete Bes says rescue personnel failed to locate anyone in the plane, but they did find 2.2-kilograms of marijuana in a vacuum-sealed container.
Corporal Bes says two adult males did admit themselves into Royal Inland Hospital in Kamloops approximately one hour after the crash with injuries they claimed to have sustained from a head-on quad collision. Bes says they were interviewed in connection with the crash, but no arrests have been made, although the investigation continues.
The male believed to be the pilot/owner of the plane is an American, the male believed to be the passenger is Canadian. Corporal Bes says the flight plan showed the aircraft heading to Alaska from Washington State, with no scheduled stops in Canada.
Canada Border Services Agency and Transport Safety Board have also been advised of the incident.
