The Fraser River as it flows past Paddlewheel Park
What a difference two months makes...
The picture above was taken this past week in Paddlewheel Park, while the picture below shows the same spot back on May 9th.
The current level of the Fraser River at South Fort George is 7.58-metres, above the norm for this time of year. The BC River Forecast Centre says, "Following a winter of above normal snowpacks throughout most of the province, and a cool and damp spring, rivers in most portions of BC are now experiencing above normal streamflow conditions for this time of year." (Exceptions are occuring in parts of the Thompson and Okanagan regions)
The pictures below, again show a similar view of a riverside bench in the park with the left from May and the right from this past week...

There Environment Ministry says there are currently no areas of water supply concern in British Columbia. However, the weather during the next few weeks will play a critical role in how water supply and streamflow conditions develop in watersheds throughout the province, particularly in the dry southern Interior.
With warmer and drier weather conditions now upon us, Environment Minister Barry Penner is urging all British Columbians to help conserve water resources. Penner says protecting any vulnerable water supplies will ensure there is adequate water to last through the summer.
