Just minutes after announcing Prince George would be home to IMPACT, the Integrated Municipal Provincial Auto Crime Team, Solicitior General John Les delivered a cheque in the amount of $16,300.00 to the Two Rivers Crime Prevention Society. This is the fundraising arm of the Community Policing office.
Over the years, the Two Rivers Crime Prevention Society, has sponsored a variety of programs including the lock it or lose it campaign, foot patrols, anti theft public service announcements, and the use of palm pilots that connect to a police data base of stolen vehicle license places.
" Community programs like this, combined with enforcement initiatives that include the use of bait cars and the automatic license plate recognition program, wll help to reduce auto crime in Prince George" said Les
The most recent stats indicate auto theft increased by 17% in Prince George, while theft from vehicles is up 88%.
