A Cormorant Helicopter, like the one show in the photo above, landed at Prince George airport overnight.
The Search and Rescue chopper from Canadian Forces Base Comox was on an emergency flight with precious cargo. It was called into duty last night to pick up a three year old boy from Fort Ware.
Captain Joe Palfy says the helicopter landed at the airport, the child was transferred to an ambulance and taken to Prince George Regional Hospital.
Normally this kind of emergency flight is undertaken by the BC Ambulance service but the child was in a remote area and there were no runway lights.
Captain Palfy says the round trip is a thousand nautical miles and the crew arrived back at the base around 9:30 this morning.
The child had been involved in an ATV accident. His injuries were treated, and he has since been released from PGRH. The boy is being returned to his home in Ft. Ware.
