Ministry of Forests water bombers have now dumped several loads of fire retardent on the  forest  east of the train derailment in Prince George, in an effort to prevent the fire  from spreading through L.C. Gunn Park.

The CN train  jumped the tracks around 10:15 this morning.

Emergency services have been on the scene since that time.  ( See previous story)

No one hurt,   and there is still some confusion as to if this was a collision between a north and south bound train, or if the southbound train  simply derailed.  Transport Canada is on the scene and has started its investigation.

The foam pumper truck from the Prince George Airport arrived on scene and has sprayed the tanker car which is  venting and burning,   Officials are confident the tanker , believed to be carrying 50 thousand gallons of gasoline, will not explode because  the gas hasn’t vaporized.

Kevin Falcon will spin this as C.N. putting on a BBQ for the long weekend, after all, it was such a great idea selling off what they had no right to sell. I seem to recall talking about C.N.'s safety record before the sale. If I knew how poor their record was how the heck did Gordo miss this fact? I guess the safety of British Columbia was not as important to the B.C.Lieberals as their precious money and corporate might. Thank God no one was killed in this latest disaster, but given their record it is only a matter of time before there is a disaster where the gasoline really does explode.
It's sold, get over it. What are we going to do about things today and into the future? Two trains were on the same dam track. Do you think human error may be one of the causes? Chester
Pardon me, it could be possible that they weren't on the same tracks. An assumption on my part and it occured to me how incorrect I could be. Sorry. Chester

I wonder if the government will now step in...prety hard for CN to no harm no foul with this one!.
Two derailments her ein PG in two weeks....
Next one could be the killer....

And yes a large very scary fire ensued...
fortunately they managed to get most of the rail cars moved out of the way.
Foresty did a great job with the water bomber...
It looks like one jumped the adjacent track and ran into the other, due to being overloaded, and not being able to slow down, therefore going too fast and being out of control.

Put all these factors together, and move them all half a kilometer away, to the South Scale site, and a trucker would still be in jail right now, for such heinous misdeeds.

Why do we not take the same kind of enforcement stand with rail ?
