Gas at the pumps took another tumble Thursday to $112.9, down from 115.9 and earlier from $118.9.

At 118.9 the wholesale price was 83.8 leaving a stretch of $35.1 cents litre or a mark up of $1.59 a gallon.

With a price of 112.9 the price on Thursday, the mark up (both wholesale and retail to the gas companies and dealers) was 29.1 cents or $1.32 a gallon.

The price in Ottawa on Tuesday was 104.3 in Toronto 102.5 in Edmonton the price was 103.5.

Prince George drivers had begun to look at fewer fills as a result of the high prices and some drivers were looking at other means of transportation.

The price for regular gas continues to drop across Canada late in the week and the reason given by the gas companies is that they believe they will have enough refining capacity to make up for short falls from the southern US hurricane .

Interestingly, Yellowknife, who usually has the distinction of having the most expensive gas in Canada ,fell to second place behind Timmins Ontario.

Yellowknife was at 125.5, while in Timmins the price was 126.7.

The average price in Canada (as of Tuesday) according to MJ Ervin was 109.9

Of course gasoline prices are slipping.
Summer's almost gone and winters coming on!!!
All the holidays have been taken, and we are back to a hum drum life which simply put-means work, eat, sleep, live-stay at home.
No trips, lake sitting, fishing, camping-whatever extras you fit in during a summer.
Kids back in school-holidays over.
No more tourists to rip off.
Doesn't it all add up???
Groceries may go down a little also, but I doubt that, as truckers all got raises.
Oh well, life goes on!!!!
If you didn't get a raise-"cut back."
That will be a necessity.
Canada-the land of plenty!!!!
Oh yeah-and Merry Christmas-the stores will be full of that friendly reminder very very soon.
Just figure out a way to stay warm!!!!
Your next surprise is your gas bill for heating-conveniently going up as of October 1st.
Is this really the Canada that is a land of plenty???
There are days I need convincing!!!!
GYPSY....First time I agree with you well written.
On Wednesday it was $104.9 in little ole Yale .. and even busy Hope was at $107.9

PG is slow to move!
109.9 here now, dropping like junkies on bad heroine, how can we complain it is down ten cents a litre, woohoo!

later.........
Mission accompished. the oil companies now have us figuring that $1.09 is a deal. They operate just like governments, raise taxes and cut back services, then give a little back at election time. $1.09 is still too much. Guess we need another huricane to use as an excuse to get it back up to 1,23 or higher. Good write up Owl. I agree.
