Its official, your home heating bill (if you use gas) will increase by between $150.00 and $170.00 a year average this year.

The BC Utilities Commission has granted the increase which, according to their spokesperson Bruce Williston, will amount to $180.00 in the lower mainland.

Williston says the Commission reviewed all the facts before granting the increase.

The increase amounts to 13.3 % a year and according to the company ,Terasen Gas, is a result of higher prices south of the border and increased demand.

FT Nelson, where a goodly portion of the natural gas in BC originates from, faces a whopping 28% increase in the cost of its natural gas.

Fort Nelson Town Manager, Randy MacLean, says the increase in Ft. Nelson should have been phased in. In that town, it will mean an increase of around $300 dollars per home this winter.

For sure, feed the fat cat. Like they don't make a big enough profit as it is. Someone must have been paid off in BCUC. Lets squeeze people for any disposable money they may have left after pay day. Everything goes up to to feed big profit companies, but ask for a raise....forget it.
BULL...T
it is time for a northern living allowance in b.c. these clowns in vancouver/victoria don't even bother to calculate the increase in cost separately for northerners, that is crap
