This locking gas cap, or one similar, may be the only thing saving you from having to shell out an extra $60 to a hundred some dollars on a tank of gas.
With gas prices still well over the dollar a litre mark, some thieves and using what used to be known as the "Saskatchewan Credit card" to get the fuel they need for their own vehicles.
Yes, folks, we are talking about gas siphoning.
There have been several cases noted to Opinion 250, but the poor drivers are too embarrased to report it to police.
In one case, gas ( about a 1/4 tank full ) was sucked out of a truck in broad daylight in a busy parking lot in the 18th-Quinn area of town.
The owner of the vehicle was attending a meeting at the time, and when he returned to his truck, noticed the gas door wide open, and suddenly his "low fuel light" was ablaze.
So in light of desperate gas thieves, the investment in a locking gas cap, seems a little like "pay me now.....or you can pay me later."
