Heading into the last long weekend of the summer, the reminders are being issued once again, about  campfires.
The cool wet weather has helped keep fire danger to a low in the Prince George region but there is a warming trend on the way for the weekend.
Minister of Forests, Rich Coleman,  wants everyone to ensure fires have been  put out properly “Please be extremely careful with campfires and ensure they are fully extinguished before you leave because they can continue to smoulder and re-ignite if conditions are right.”
Since the start of the fire season ( April 1st)  there have been 269 fires in the Prince George Fire Centre.  Of that number, 179 were caused by lightning, 89 by human activity.

Has the "forests minister" noticed how wet it is out there? In reading the above story, it seems incredible to me that they can have 269 fires in the fire centre. I don't believe it. How can lightning strike indoors? And how in heck can humans get away with starting 89 fires in the fire centre? Maybe they need some security huh?
On a serious note, too many people are careless with fire out in the woods. I hope there are no fires caused this weekend by careless idiots.
