(Prince George, B.C.)  Vernon Kyle Wilson will have to wait for one more week to see how long he will have to spend behind bars before he is eligible for parole.

Wilson has admitted to strangling Candace Marie Kalmokoff after she broke off a passionate kiss and refused further advances.  He then had sex with her body, and tried to cover up the murder by dumping her body in an alley in Prince George on New Year’s Day in 2006.
Having entered a plea of guilty to the second degree murder of Candace, Wilson is automatically facing a life sentence.
The  Defense Counsel  advises that  the  average  mandatory sentence is 12.9 years,  but in this case, where Mr. Wilson has so many letters of support, and the murder was  “an explosive event”  that was prompted by  an ambivalent relationship, the consumption of  violent pornography and  the use of alcohol and drugs, Defense says ten years  would be sufficient.
On the Crown’s side, the Crown says none of the people who wrote the letters know anything about his other life. Crown wondered if those people would have written those letters had they known “The violence of the act and the indignity to Ms. Kalmokoff by violating her body by having sex with her after her death.” The Crown would like to see something more in the 15 year range.
When Justice Chamberlist asked Wilson if he had anything to say to the Court, Wilson stood and said six words “Not at this time My Lord.”
Justice Chamberlist wants to have time to contemplate the cases put forth for his consideration before making a final decision.  He is prepared to deliver a sentence Friday September the 7th at 2:00, of course that may change as the Defense Counsel is not certain his calendar will be clear to take part at that particular  time.

Letters of support??
Who supports someone who has sex with a dead body?
Go figure.
'Not I', said Frank.

In dead Earnest.
Hope he has to take gender sensitivity courses in the slammer.
IMO that was a death penalty offense.
Mandatory means mandatory. Make him serve his sentence. No more ands, ifs or buts. Get those lawyers working on someone elses cases and free up our court rooms. Chester

In MY opinion, use of violent porn should not be an excuse but a reason for harsher punishments. Drugs and alcohol are no excuse either.
Too bad this wasn't Texas.
Reminds me of a similar case where the offender entered "job references" as "character references". The letters were written by various government agency workers, but were intended to assist him in finding employment.

Instead, he entered them in court as "character references" in a trial for a violent assault.

How about we keep him in jail until he is so old and frail that he is no longer a threat to society.

Better yet, maybe he gets strangled and raped in jail.

I agree with above comments, THERE ARE SOME ACTIONS THAT JUST CANNOT BE MITIGATED, NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY.

He strangled her for refusing advances, then had sex with her dead body anyway.period.
I knew the guy in highschool...nothing about this surprises me. Lock him up for good.
