Province to Start Budget Consultations

The Provincial  Government's  Finance  Committee is starting to make the rounds to find out how the next budget should be shaped.  The Committee will be in Prince George on September 18th  from 8 a.m. till noon.

Committee Chair  Bill Bennett says last year more than 8300 people made a submission to the Committee either through  attending a public hearing,  preparing a written  submission or responding to the  budget consultation paper online.

The Budget Consultation  paper will be  released on the 14th, and will be the base for the  public consultations.

Here are the other  dozen communities the Committee will be visiting:

  • Sept. 17  Dawson Creek  12-3 p.m.
  • Sept. 18  Quesnel  4-7 p.m.
  • Sept. 19  Terrace  9 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • Sept. 20  Campbell River  12-3 p.m.
  • Sept. 21  Vancouver  9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
  • Oct. 3       Victoria   8 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 5       Mission  9 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • Oct. 5       Coquitlam 3-6 p.m.
  • Oct. 9       Cranbrook  12-3 p.m. (MDT)
  • Oct. 10     Kelowna  8 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • Oct. 10     Kamloops  4-8 p.m.
  • Oct. 11    Surrey  9 a.m.-5 p.m.

Gee... a whole 4 hours to listen to the concerns of people in PG and area.

And don't expect a lot...all available money will be funneled into the Olympics.
Yes, pretty much that or another hefty raise in the near future.
I wonder how much money will be available for the Cariboo Connector this year? But at least they are coming here to listen to us peasants of the Heartland :)

#1 Airport expansion money.

#2 PG ring road and industrial park outside of the airshed.

#3 Cariboo connector upgrades in the near areas around and through PG and Quesnel.

#4 Highway improvements through Burns Lake (bi-pass?) and on through to Prince Rupert.

#5 Park and rest stop upgrades throughout Northern BC in time for the Olympic tourism season.
Ok Folks, here is your chance to voice your opinion. Don't blow it. They are coming and asking for your input. So, provide it and quit complaining. Chester
