SUMMARY
To put it nicely and politically correct, August "struggled" on the weather side with no real hot and dry stretches. The month failed to produce a temperature exceeding 30 degrees, probably not great for ice cream sales. In fact there were 17 days during the month when the daily maximum failed to climb about the 20 degree mark. To top this off, 2 new record daily minimums were also established on the 9th and 10th. The overnight lows hovered just above the freezing mark producing frost in some low lying areas. This all translated in a cooler than normal month, by just shy of 1.5 degrees.
Precipitation, although not an overly wet month, came on a frequent basis with 15 days seeing measurable precipitation, 2 days more than normal. The total amount was just a slightly more than the average August with the last 3 days on the damp side ensuring at least the normal would be achieved.
