At 12:09 today, a special monument to Terry Fox will be unveiled in the park at 7th and Dominion, next to the Four Season’s pool.

Today, the streets of Prince George and many communities like it across the province, the country and around the world, will be a buzz with people walking, running, roller blading, biking, and in wheel chairs, in what has become known as the Terry Fox Run. All participants inspired by the young man who tried to run across Canada to raise money and awareness for cancer research.

This is the 25th anniversary year for Terry’s “Marathon of Hope”, which started in Newfoundland, and some three thousand miles later, ended in Thunder Bay when Terry learned cancer had spread to his lungs.

The Terry Fox Foundation has raised more than $360 million dollars for cancer research.

The Prince George run starts at 9:00 this morning, and is expected to wrap up at 2 p.m.
