District 57 School Board Chair, Bill Christie, says he hopes there will not be a teachers strike, but it looks like we are in for one.

"I’d like to see the kids stay in school" said Christie. The last time the agreement was up, he added, it was an imposed settlement and there were some bitter feelings.

"We faced a work to rule and an imposed settlement is not the way to go in my mind."

The School board Chair says the teachers are holding a strike vote in most regions starting next week, it would then take a few weeks before an actual strike could take place.

The Province's Labour Minister, Mike De Jong, is meeting with both sides in Victoria on Monday, in the hopes of reaching an agreement.

He holds out little hope.

I would like to see the teachers receive a 35% pay increase---immediately-not over 3 years!
I would like to see all schools re opened-irregardless of too few students to utilize them.
I would like to see all extra curricular activities brought back, and teachers paid overtime to oversee them.
I would like the government to pay for all needed supplies-irregardless of cost.
I would like to see your taxes in the coming years-and how you will be able to pay them!!!!
Enjoy.
