Export Prince George,  a development arm of Initiatives Prince George and the Community Futures Development Corporation, has a manager, Wendy Rockafellow.

Manager of her own consulting firm, Ms Rockafellow recently moved to Prince George from Vanderhoof where she  held the post of Community Coordinator/Aboriginal Relations with Community Futures Stuart Nechako. She also worked as the Economic Development Officer with the District of Vanderhoof. In addition to her experience in economic development, Ms. Rockafellow has experience in outdoor adventure tourism, marketing and film and television.

Initiatives Prince George President Gerry Offet says he is thrilled to have someone with Ms. Rockafellow’s skills and experience guide the Export portfolio as it helps Prince George firms create opportunities in foreign markets. "Wendy brings a depth of knowledge and experience to this position," says Offet. "We are very excited to have her on board."

Rockafellow is said to have in-depth understanding of the many countries and cultures that Export Prince George has targeted.  The Export Prince George  office  is mandated to work with existing firms with export ready goods and/or services, and to help those companies develop trade with other nations.

"Manager of her own consulting firm" ...

I wonder what sort of contracts she may have brokered between local firms and those in another country while she managed her own company?
All the Major Companies in this area Lumber, Pulp and Paper, Minerals, have been exporting for years to China, Japan, Europe, etc; These companies have sales offices in the Major Cities, so they will not need any help from Export Prince George. She will have to work with some of the smaller companies that may or may not come on line because of the availability of local containers.

It will be interesting to see what develops.
Vanderhoof consultant? Not much happening around that area.....
Just for information this position has been in place for many years, recently vacated by Charles Scott.
We await Ms Rockafellows' departure.

Cheers
Only on this site can one expect to hear the critics come up with consipracy theories, skepicism, negativity, or pessimism no matter WHAT the story is.

Once again, I'm glad to be a Canadian with the luxury of having the type of life where I can read this absolute crap, and support the people coming up with it for their right to free speech, no matter how useless it is.
I agree Buzz without free speech we wouldnt be able to listen to your drivel.

It seems that every thought you have is positive and worthy, and all lit up like a Christmas Tree, while opposing points of view are Skepticism, Negativity, or Pessimisim. However I note that none of your thoughts or idea's are backed up by any facts.

Give us an example of how this Export Manager will be able to assist people in Prince George. Give us some examples of what Charles Scott did. The whole concept of the Prince Rupert Container Terminal, was the Brainchild of Hayer Termiinals in New Jersey, the Port of Prince Rupert, and CN Rail. They were able to do this without the input of **Export Prince George**. Much the same as they are able to operate throughout North America and around the world without **Export Prince George**.

Where was **Export Prince George** when the Pulp Mills were built and they started to Export Pulp and Paper all over the world, how did they manage??

Prince George has been exporting products for the past 20 years without the help of **Export Prince George** which didnt even exist until we came up with the lame idea of Initiative's Prince George.
Job/career creation? Is all. Depth of knowledge and experience? All from the little town of Hooterville? I should think her resume is a must read document.
Most communities have an Economic Development Officer of some sort.
Some have a degree and some don't.
People in the community usually have no idea what they do or who they are, because the bulk of this person's time is spent sitting in an office in a back corner somewhere appying for grants.
Some places even pay the economic development officer a percentage of what they successfully apply for, and in the long run, they don't cost the community much in terms of wages if they are good at what they do.
Whether or not they actually DO anything other than that remains to be seen.
I am not quite sure what the point to this is or what this Export Prince George thing will actually accomplish.
And who is funding it?
Most successful businesses create their own markets, that's why they are successful in the first place!

As far as I know Export Prince George is an arm of Initiatives Prince George which is funded by the City of Prince George to the tune of $2+ Million per year.
Thank god she has her own consulting firm (in hooterville??) since she may only be paid on a percentage of economic dividends that may be generated for PG. Hope she can afford to feed herself.
