This is the official monument commemorating Terry Fox’s connection with Prince George.

In 1979, Terry Fox used the Prince George to Boston Marathon as his final test to see if he had the stamina to start his Marathon of Hope. The statue erected at 7th and Dominion, marks the finish line for that 17 mile race, which also marked the start of an incredible journey for a young man , who would go on to be a hero to the nation, an inspiration to the world.

This is the 25th anniversary year for the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope, and the publicity surrounding that milestone helped boost participation in the local run.

In Prince George, 643 runners had been registered by noon, and $15 thousand dollars had been pledged. That is the best participation in a few years, for example last year, there were about 50 people to officially start the run, this time round, about 400 people were ready for the official start
