The newest car dealership in Prince George is  open, although the current location is only temporary.

Northland Group ?? Pushy bunch of sales people...
Yeah, I'll be going out of town to do my car buying! Northland's prices are always thousands more than vancouver. I don't mind flying down as a lot of lowermainland dealerships will reimburse a person for their plane ticket!! Stuff like that will keep me coming back!
i went out of town to buy a 50,000 pickup all my major purchases are made out of town. PG should clue in, better deals and service out of town.
It is unfortunate that such a good brand is being sold by a company with such a poor reputation.
I will only buy Dodge or Chrysler, but I will never buy from Northland. I am not such a fan of Regency either. Gustafson's in Williams Lake is where I will buy from.
Correct me if I am wrong. Most P.G. merchants have an attitude towards their customers. There are the exceptions. Thus all the out of town buying stories I have been hearing over the years. Correct me or agree with me. Competition keeps the price down and quality up.
I wouldn't say that most of the merchants have an attitude, but on big ticket items, I would suggest that many of them certainly do not do what it takes to keep business local. They seem to think that it is 1970 and that they have a captive market. They don't understand that a person could have 3 or 4 competing vehicle quotes within a day by using the Internet and that places from out of town are GLAD to get your business because it is basically a free sale for them.

The good ones get it and adapt, or provide something extra to make up for any price differences (great service for example). The ones that don't get it usually just complain about people not shopping locally, LOL.
For those who shop in lotusland remember that the options may not be the same . I bought my toyota in town and it comes with all the NORTHERN options and the sales guys you will meet on the street anywhere in PG.

I had one firm in lotusland strip the plates off my vehicle before I the deal got started. I just said goodby.

And dont forget the good buys at CN centre

Cheers
You have got to be kidding Bridge. CN Centre? Good deals? Here is a story. I had an 01 4runner LTD that I bought in 2006 down in Lotusland. The dealership paid for my flight down and took 2 grand off the asking price. A so called "northern package" is only a block heater, so the dealership there installed one for me at their cost. I paid 24,000 for the vehicle with the "northern package" (taxes not included)

A year later, I traded this vehicle in at a dealership in PG (not northland) and received fair market (black book)value for it - $20,000. This was in December of 2006.

Well, Summer of 2007 I head over to the Mega Sale at CN centre and lo and behold, what do I see? My old 4runner on the Northland's used car sales section "on sale" for a whopping 32,000. I was also sad to see that it had been slightly abused by perhaps salespeople taking it home, or whatever, as it had a scuff on the fender and a severely cracked windshield.

A salesperson came over to see if I was interested and proclaimed the wondrous benefit of such a great price on this vehicle. I never laughed so hard in my life! I RAN, not walked off that area of the parking lot!

The bottom line is I feel PG'ers have been getting fleeced in terms of used car sales from this group for years.
I made the mistake of buying a dodge from northland, I regret it now!
Oh well, never again.
100's of people have been in financial troubles because of the group............
100's of people have been in financial troubles because of the group............
There is more to a "northern package" then just a block heater. Better still go and check it out.

I have bought many vehicles in Prince George and because there is one bad apple it really dosent spoil the entire barrel. Most are just local guys trying to make a buck. I would never go to another city to buy my vehicles.

Cheers
Why don't you tell us exactly what is a northern package then? Undercoating? Already done at the factory with most new vehicles = the so called northern package is just a cash grab for many dealerships.
About the only thing you actually need in the so called Northern package would be a block heater and many cars that are sold down south actually do have them already.
Depends on what you are buying.
There IS a big difference in price and attitude as well.
When the competition is tough, the dealers need to be very aware of pissing off the potential customers and they are better at that down there.
My kid bought a new truck with one phone call and a few emails and saved 3300 bucks over any deal he could make here in PG.
And with MORE options!
Not all dealerships in PG are bad but they do have an attitude, and they do cost more, inspite of what the salesman will tell you.
In this day and age, there is no good reason for that.
Here is a good example of the stupidity I saw last myself last year:
I bought a car for my wife from one of the local GM dealers after getting blown off the Chrysler dealers lot by an ignorant salesman.
Needless to say, that should NEVER happen.
I wrote the GM dealer a personal check for over 18 thousand bucks and drove away.(with I.D.of course)
One week later,I went to another dealer in PG to by a truck I had taken a shine to.
When I went to write them a check for over 27 thousand dollars, they refused it because it was a personal check.
Hello?
They wouldn't even bother to get in touch with the previous dealer from the week before, where I wrote the last check.
Needless to say I walked, but I did eventually buy the truck after the salesman got it smoothed over and apologized for the stupidity.
It was not his fault.
PG has always had a bad rep for car sales and maybe it's about time they started to learn a few things.
