An 18 year old male in Prince George  didn't win any awards, but he  did get an all expenses paid trip  to the Prince George RCMP cells until he could sober up.

Prince George RCMP say  they had parked a cruiser  in the downtown core of Prince George around 2 in the morning so they could do foot patrols.   Officers in another cruiser noticed   a crowd had gathered and several people were taking cell phone photos.

When they got closer, they saw an 18 year old male who was very intoxicated,  was entertaining the crowd by dancing on the  roof of the police cruiser.

He was arrested and taken to cells until he was sober.  Officers say fortunately  the dance didn't do any damage to the cruiser, but the  young man was given a stern warning of the consequences of such actions.

Police  will now be visiting the  downtown area bars as  police have learned the under age  drinker- turned- dancer had  been drinking at several  downtown  establishments.

I hope heavy fines are assessed to any bars that served him.
Has video of the dancing been posted to youtube yet? See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebIjnzExE7M
for the kind of behaviour some of our local youth think is cool.
Who are these guy's kidding??
Under age drinkers can be found in the downtown bars at anytime of night.
Particularly close to closing time when the bars want to pump out as much boozs as possible.
If the cops and the bar owners don't know that,(which I find hard to believe)then we should all be very worried!
A good example of why there is a drinking age restriction.
When I was 17 I got busted for having a case of beer in the trunk of my car.(on my way to a beach party I recall)
The drinking age was 21 back then.
I went to court and got whacked with a 50 dollar fine, which by the way,was a lot of dough at that time.
Even though I worked a fulltime job, I was still a minor in the eyes of the law.
Getting nailed for underage drinking was a given back then but now,it NEVER happens.
Even though our courts are very busy, that still doean't mean that it should be tolerated.
The kids know that nothing will be done about it so why worry eh?
Almost all kids drink now just as we did back in the day but they do it at a much younger age now.
And parents tolerate it too, even though it is against the law.
So why do we have laws that are not enforced?
All it does is send the wrong message that it is ok to ignore the law.
That has a lot to do with the mess we are dealing with now and the lack of respect for the law and police in general!
Yes, underage drinking is nothing new. I'm sure the alcohol did all talking that night. His sober section of brain lost the battle with his drunken section of brain on that one ;) He never should've done this but I have to say a chuckle snuck out when I read what the crowd was observing :)
RCMP probably had a laugh at the stupidity too, but the disrespect of the law and the authority of the RCMP should be addressed - how about 200 hours of washing the police cruisers while wearing a sign that tells people why? Maybe we need to go back to public shaming or like the Native culture and banish them for awhile? When they have no friends to impress, no cell phone, tv, or parties they might be a little more thankful for their lives and the laws that keep them safe.
When I was 18 I had too many shots of tequila (friends were buying the cheep $1 ones) in Kelowna and got caught with an open beer in public for the second time that night. The cop said he would have to take me to the drunk tank, but I wasn't ready yet to go. I thought I could outrun him because the cop was on a horse... I ran straight to the drunk tank main entrance in downtown Kelowna and then ran out of air when I came across an unsuspecting cop leaving the detachment.

The cop was all puzzled as to why I was surrendering to him until his friend on the horse came around the corner lol. All the cops got a good laugh and the arresting officer was telling his buddies, 'and all I had to do was take two steps out the front door'.

The plan was I was going to hide near my buddies truck, but forgot we parked across from the police station earlier thinking it was a safe place to park the truck while we went out drinking. hahaha!

These thing happen. Par for the course for drunk juniors IMO....
lol @ Chad :) .... Laugh if you will but on Dr. Phil (this is where you laugh..To my friends I usually start my sentences with on Dr. Phil today or on Oprah today....lol) there was a judge who would do what Anniemartin was talking about with the public shaming. He would make the offenders of these MINOR offenses do community service in some sort of embarrassing fashion that fit the crime. Seemed to work as he rarely saw repeat offenders in front of him. :)
