The Senior Vice President of the Western Region for CN will be appearing before Prince George City Council on Monday September 17th    to talk about the train collision and derailment of August 4th.

In his letter to the City, V.J. Vena praises the City of Prince George Emergency response personnel “I especially want to thank you for the high quality of both the initial response and subsequent cooperation from your City’s Emergency Response personnel, notably your Fire Department.  Your Civic employees played a major role in the overall response to the incident and certainly showed the high standards to which they train and perform.”

Vena says he will speak to Council about the work CN is doing to “address safety concerns now being raised in your community.”  His letter goes on to say “All of us at CN are working hard to reduce the frequency and severity of accidents across the entire network, including the Prince George area.”

He will be appearing at the Monday meeting with CN’s General Manager in Prince George, Tom Bourgonje, and CN’s Regional Manager of Public and Government Affairs, Kelli  Svendsen.

Smoke and mirrors!
"CN Boss Praises P.G. Fire Department"...and so he should after all they with the help of the RCMP and forestry services saved the companies sorry butt.
Somebody at this council meeting, please ask Mr Vena about that Prince George CN railyard where Kelli kept telling us the crash occurred.

If the CN railyard now extends from First Avenue to the Prince George Industrial Site including the approx. 4 miles of track where the crash occurred, well ... ask him when this was "re-designated" ... and how ... and by whom?

It's important to know -- before much else gets "re-designated" into CN ownership.

For example, the recent CN derailment in Quesnel stopped traffic on Hwy 97 for hours but it, too, said Kelli, "occurred in a CN railyard". Since the railway tracks cross Hwy 97 in Quesnel, does this mean that Hwy 97 might ... um, er ... be just another CN railyard?

.

I would like to hear the reason why CN spokesperson lied about no toxic material reaching the river, when the river was clearly on fire. Some accountability to the people of PG and BC would be nice as opposed to treating us like idiots
