Prince George RCMP have released  some more information on yesterday's fatal  accident off the 700 forest Road ( also called Chunchinka road) north of Bear Lake.

Police say  a 2006 Dodge  one ton pick-up  driven by  a 29 year  old forestry worker from Prince George skidded on some loose gravel and rolled about 30 feet down a steep embankment, landing upside down in three feet of water in Chunchinka Creek. The  crash happened  between 9:30 and 10:30 yesterday morning.

Due to the heavy bush in the area, the  victim  and the vehicle were not spotted for several hours undtil a helicopter was brought in to help search.  Police say the victim ws moving the truck from one  spot to another for another  worker.

The name of the deceased has not  yet been released.

The investigation is ongoing, a Traffic Analyst from Prince George has requested a mechanical inspection of the vehicle.

The exact cause of death will not be known until an autopsy and toxicology  report have been completed.

So it was not the Parsnip River as the radio news reported just after the truck was spotted. A tragic conclusion, which could have been avoided by driving slower!
