CN To Address Prince George City Council

Prince George, B.C. - CN’s Senior Vice President of the Western region will attend this evening’s meeting of the Prince George City Council. He is to outline the railways plan for safety measures in the wake of the August 4th train collision and derailment.
Also on the Agenda for this evening’s session, a detailed report on possible industrial land. Development Services will present a report on possible sites for industrial development. Both sites are east of the BCR Industrial Site, and within access to the Prince George Airport.
The detailed transportation and parking plan for downtown Prince George will also be presented. The major points of the plan include:
- a return to two way traffic in the downtown core
- a five-year transit plan and new transit services including a rapid bus system;
- Addition of a bicycle route and provisions for support facilities for cyclists including signage
- improved pedestrian facilities
- New truck and dangerous goods routes;
- A new parking strategy;
City staff want to now take the plan to the public for consultation before the final report is delivered.
