A mere drop in the ocean, and the culprits will be refinanced by the (you know who) gang and back in production soon.
Just legalize it, control the distribution, and tax the fecal matter out of it. Classify pot the same as alcohol, and save us all money in reduced policing and court costs, plus the benefit of more taxes paid. Why not concentrate on the really harmful blights on society, such as crack and meth? Just an opinion.
metalman.
It is a drop in the ocean, but the monies from grow ops finance or tend to find there way into the the same hands of those who run the meth and crack networks. So, if the police can take something away from their financial base, its ok with me.
Legalize, take away org. crime's biggest moneymaker. Prohibition was the same. Let's make some money off BC's biggest cash crop.
Its time to start looking at the facts of Marijuana just a little closer and start realising that it is not this evil life taking substance like Crack or Meth. I know more chronic pot smokers in this town who live, work and function perfectly fine than I do alcoholics. Legalise it. Tax it. And put that money straight into health care and drug addiction programs.
Don't believe local radio guy. The effects of chronic pot smoking are just as bad as the effects of chronic cigarette smoking.

You can be busted for driving under the influence of a drug if you decide to smoke a hooter and then head out in your vehicle.

If you smoke a joint you are risking the same if not worse effects to your lungs as you are smoking a non filtered substance. There are also pesticides like paraquat in marijuana that can wreck havoc on your respiratory system.

It has also been proven that neural synapses tend to fire at a slower rate when someone is under the effects of marijuana and chronic use can and will lead to a permanent condition. Hence the term pot head.

I for one, would not employ someone I knew to be a chronic pot smoker if I had reason to believe their conditions of employment would be jeapordized.
"hooter"?

dgdiggler......give me a break already....you dont even touch on the comparisons btween crack, meth, heroin and pot.....Im telling you that the resources spent on pot would be better spent on shooting these crack(meth, heroin) dealers on site....way better than spending money prosecuting pot growers.....honestly, would you rather have your relative coming home with a bag of crack or weed....give your head a shake...and law enforcement....get your heads out of your asses and do something productive....weed vs cigarettes!?!....I can name 20 people off the top of my head who've been chronics for years and, run heavy machinery, teach or children, supervise people in dangerous jobs with nary a negative consequence expect maybe to their OWN bodies. Oh the humanity
PUFF ON THIS

Bad or not, tobacco is legal, booze ranks highest on the harm index (yes, even ahead of meth, E, coke, etc) and has huge social costs, and the pot isn't going away. Even the very conservative Fraser Institute says legalize for $$$.
Stiffer penalties just make it more lucrative for the bad guys and more dangerous for those caught in their crossfire.

In countries where pot is legal, use among youths is half of what it in North America. Why is that? Just because it's legal, doesn't mean you have to smoke it!

There's a lot of bad stuff in the air you breathe.
"There are also pesticides like paraquat in marijuana that can wreck havoc on your respiratory system."

Reason enough to legalize IMO so people aren't smoking paraquat or what ever that is.

Yes, chronic potheads are very productive...I feel so much better knowing that a lot of chronic potheads drive logging trucks often when high on the ganja.Legalize it and the crooks will still grow it at the same pace as now.Look at all the folks who show up at the marihuana smoke-in protests. They hold these rallies on weekdays because none of these losers has a job to go to.
So what you are saying Troll is let's keep going the way we are, tying up the courts, supporting organized crime, wasting the energy of policing resources, and missing out on a lot of money for government coffers.
Am I reading that right?
Cronic pot heads couldnt drive a sharp stick through a warm pile of shit when it comes to being productive. Ive spent many hours babysitting these assholes at millsites because they are too busy trying to figure out which boards are real and wich are a product of the high. I dont have anything against the recreational user during their off time but when it starts to become a problem for everyone else then its time to evaluate the sitiuation.
Some people just dont get it I guess :(
Northman is bang-on with his comments. The long term potheads I've known over the years are definitely in slo-mo compared to the normal crowd.
