RCMP Pulling Vehicle from Ditch Near Bridge

Prince George RCMP are on the scene of a  roll over  on  Highway 16 east.

A  vehicle found overturned in the ditch on the east side of the Yellowhead Bridge this morning.  No one in the vehicle.   The vehicle was  discovered  at about 7:19 this morning. Traffic may be impacted as tow trucks  try to  pull the vehicle from the site.

In another incident,  a  vehicle crash is being blamed for a major power outage  west of Domano Boulevard in Prince George.  The area  impacted is north of Thompson Drive, East of Elk Road,  South of Highway 16 and West of Chartwell Crescent, about 250 customers  without electrictiy.

A  car crash  last night to blame.  Details on the crash are not available.

B.C. Hydro says sit will be  6:00 this evening  before  power can be restored. The  crash happened just before 8:00 last night.  No details on the crash.

You know, if our electrcal infrastructure were below ground in pipes like natural gas is, car crashes and snowstorms wouldn't disrupt it.
That is so true, but also your rates would be 3 times higher as the cost of building underground is so much higher. Underground just introduces other issues, like people digging the line up, etc.

In general the power system, of any province, is a very precarious operation that one minor accident can cause wide spread outages.
That crash happened close to my house and let me tell you, if not for driving an SUV and the grace of god that girl driving would have been dead. She hammered the pole and took out part of the fence in front of Westside School.

That frontage road that runs from Bon Voyage to Westgate is turning into a high speed detour while the road is being worked on. If you walk down there like I do, make sure you wear a reflector vest at night.
