Prince George, B.C.  -  Together with  MLA’s Pat Bell and John Rustad, Northern Health Chair, Charles Jago  has announced the start of  construction for a new  Seniors complex to be built at 20th and Victoria  in Prince George.

The construction will be done by WIC, the same builders who constructed the Northern Sport Centre facility in Prince George.  The property at 20th and Victioria, which used to be the  football field and track at Ron Brent Elementary School is now  peppered with orange  survey sticks, outlining the  facility’s "footprint".

The $42 million dollar facility   will have 93 new complex care beds for seniors and people with disabilities who need around-the-clock nursing support. The plans also include 80 new assisted living units.

The facility  is expected to open in 2009, although initially  it was scheduled to be open by 2008.

For the NDP, all this stuff from the Libs these last few weeks sure is gonna be a tough act to follow. Eh, Carol?
Greenspace: R.I.P.
Ironically some of the men and woman who will be using the facilities probably went to school on the same grounds some sixty to eighty years ago.
I'm so thankful for the continued development of assisted housing for our seniors. The list is long and the options are short in this city. Congratulations. Chester
Simon Fraser Lodge - It's ironic that NHA has just put a building project on hold due to their inability to accommodate residents who's beds will be eliminated as a result of the NHA reducing 33 beds at Simon Fraser Lodge. (from 131 to 98 beds) The NHA does not feel that they need these Long Term Care beds. So, what are we to think about that? Chester
