Terasen Gas is facing rotating strike action.
Members of the Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union are taking time off the job in various locations in the province.
According to Terasen, the company is willing to resume bargaining at any time. According to the union, the company is only willing to head back to the table, if the union is willing to accept major cuts to benefits.
COPE Local 378 President Andy Ross says the union is planning rotating action around the province, and Prince George is not yet on their schedule.
For the average customer, billing will not be impacted. “The average consumer won’t see any major change during the job action” says Ross “Where delays will come in, is for new customers who may see delays, or, as the work orders build up, post poned.”
The Local took the action, says Ross, when Terasen downgraded the benefits, “And we can’t see why they even looked at this “.
The Union represents 465 workers in B.C. they walked off the job Friday throughout the province as part of a “limited work stoppage”.
