Prince George City Council meets this evening with a relatively light agenda.

Council will look at adopting a “whistle blower” protection policy to protect employees who reveal  conduct  that is unethical.

There   is only one public hearing for this evening it is a rezoning application that would allow the construction of townhouses on Harper Street across from Freeman Park.

Council will hear from a delegation from the Prince George Community Partners Addressing Homelessness.  The delegation is requesting   the official proclamation of October 15th to 21st as Homelessness Week.

Council will be asked to approve significant increases to the fees charged for water  and sewer connections as well as  repairs to curbs or roads for such connections.

There is also  a return to  the request  from the Northern Lights Festival organizers.  They had asked for some in-kind contributions from the city for the festival.

Council will also be asked to  consider the construction of a pedestrian underpass crossing  Highway 97 from 8th Avenue to  Spruceland .

Perhaps now someone will be able to blow the whistle on the Ice Oval gravel situation.
Ben was going to get the information through the Freedom of Information Act. Wonder how he doing on it.
Contradictions. In one paragraph talk of empathy for the homeless, then in the next paragraph city plans to increase the cost of an already over inflated building lot with increases to the servicing fees for those looking to expand the housing opportunities in this city.

I was going to build a house last year because crack shakes aren't worth $200,000+ but the city wanted to charge nearly $40,000 just bring the city water and sewer from the middle of the street to a mere 6 feet onto the property. I couldn't believe the costs they charge for something like that. No wonder city lots are now selling for more than an entire house sold for three years ago. I think it can be the only thing that explains the huge house price increases in recent years. Heck I could put in my own well and sewer system for that cost and not have to pay city taxes if done out of town....

Seems hypocritical to talk of homeless week; and then at the same time further inflating the cost of affordable housing. Par for the course for this city council IMO.
wonder what inaction Council will take on homelessness, perhaps move them to the Millar Addition area?
The request for the information on the Ice Oval has been submitted to City Hall, we at Opinion250 await the results. We are told about $400 dollars worth of pages
$400 bucks? Hmmm? How about selling copies of it just before the next election? Oughta recoup yer loss.
