The First Nations emergency conference on the mountain pine beetle epidemic has wrapped up in Prince George with participants buzzing with ideas.

Minister of Forest and Lands, Rich Coleman, attended today’s session and says his Ministry is interested in looking at all options of what to do with the “denim wood”.

First Nations reps attending the two day session say one thing is clear, dealing with the mountain pine beetle will take money, as loggers and truckers have to cover their costs.

As First Nations wound down the conference, they talked about some of their ideas to reduce the impact on the economy in years to come. One idea is to store harvested timber in water and use it as needed, giving replanted areas a chance to recover.

The Federal Government’s $100 million dollar “down payment” on beetle action includes nearly $25 million dollars to reduce the threat of wildfires to communities and First Nations

Mission accomplished???
All is well!!!!
Fill up the lakes and rivers with beetle killed wood!!!!
Smashing plan????
Makes fishing boating, and swimming rather difficult, but so what???
And to reduce the threat of wildfires, boy oh boy, it is going to take one heck of a crew to rake all those fallen pine needles.
And what will be done with those???
No sense replanting in a foot of highly ignitable dried out old pine needles???
Gosh, I am sure glad I did not come up with these magnificent ideas.
Oh, I almost forgot--more money please!!!!
