Prince George, B.C. - Building stats for the month of September for the City of Prince George show that so far this year the number of  permits is pretty much the same  but  the value of the permits  year to date  has increased.

Last year at this time there had been a total of  592 permits issued for a value of $77,295,582.50

This year, by the end of September, there have been  599 permits issued  for a value of  $103,337,784.57

The biggest differences are in commercial permits  with  a value of $33 million more for both  commercial renovations and new commercial;  and  garage and carport construction went from  just under $300 thousand  at this time last year to  $1.6 million  by the end of September in '07.

There was also a significant increase in the value of single family homes  permitted so far this year ($41.4 million) compared to the  value of  virtually the same starts permitted during the same period last yar ($24 million).

The major gains were offset by  a  drop in  Institutional  starts from 3 projects worth $25.6 million in 2006 to 1 project worth $300 thousand so far this year.
