Prince George, B.C. - The two museums in Prince George have received special funding under the Pride in Our Communities, BC150 Years Local Museums program.
The Railway and Forestry Museum received $10 thousand dollars for the "We Did That! Inventions & Innovations" project which focuses on the accomplishments of Prince George’s railway and forestry communities.
Exploration Place got $10 thousand dollars to put towards a cartography exhibit and memorial cairn dedicated to Simon Fraser.
The $350,000 Pride in Our Communities grant program was created to help B.C.’s local museums and heritage organizations plan special exhibits and events to commemorate BC150 Years.
Each project will be featured in 2008 as part of the BC150 Years celebrations, and will become a permanent part of each organization’s collection. As well, local museums and heritage organizations will be able to leverage this funding to create projects totaling more than $1.6 million.
