In a last minute change to schedule, the natural mother of Savannah Hall has taken the stand at the Coroner’s Inquest into the death of the three year old.

Through tears, Corinna Hall told the jury Savannah was taken from her because “My mother drinks and is a drug addict.”  She denies that while pregnant, she was seen to be intoxicated with a cousin.  She also denies that when the Ministry apprehended Savannah that the child was malnourished, there was a foul odour about her, there was food encrusted in the folds of her skin and she had a bad diaper rash.

Corinna also denies skipping most of the parenting classes which the Ministry of Children and families had arranged for her.

Savannah Hall was in foster care in Prince George when she died in January of 2001 of swelling on the brain. The cause of that swelling has yet to be determined.  The pathologist who performed the autopsy on the child has testified it could have been the result of myocarditis, a heart condition which could reduce the flow of oxygen to the brain resulting in brain damage, it could be the result of a trauma.

The Coroner’s inquest is expected to last until the end of next week.

How does that go, "The first indication of a problem is denial..."
No kidding.. The more I hear about the findings of this inquest the sicker I feel. Was it ever about the child??
We should let anybody drive a car, and only those with a licence should be allowed to have kids.
