Snow was a contributing factor in power outages that hit the North West overnight. Snow storms are being blamed by BC hydro for power outages in Houston, Smithers and Burns Lake.

The snow combined with high winds resulted in the trees falling onto power lines.

To the north it was wind that hit the areas of Dawson Creek, Ft St John, and Hudson Hope. Hudson hope suffered a major power failure with over 300 homes affected.

Power was cut too many areas north of the Pine Pass as a result of the high winds that are said to have reached over 100 kilometers in some areas.
