Meat sold between June 20th and July 7th wasn't good and now it is the end of October? Give someone a pat on the back a few times for being magnificently Sherlockian in finding this problem. I can only presume this meat has been sold and been cooked, and consumed and passed into the great solid waste processing system without any noticeable side effect from anyone. Maybe if ya think ya got a 24 hr flu bug this summer, it might have been the meat. Happy eating in the future. And keep us informed. Better late than never, as they say.
Usually you won't get sick from ecoli 0157 H7 if meat is properly cooked. It usually happens from ground beef that is undercooked. Ground beef must be cooked to a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees F. Steaks usually don't cause people to get sick because the ecoli bacteria is on the outside of the meat. When you grind the meat it gets all mixed up so it would be on the inside as well. There is a remote possibility it could be on the inside of a steak also, but very small.
Steaks done on the barbecue taste better than lowly E.coli burgers, so what's the beef?

I BBQ about 2,000 steaks in the summer, anywhere from blue to footwear, but the burgers always are served burnt right through. And I check to makes sure!
Glad I don't just "show my steaks to the fire". I like 'em well done. I like my e- coli well done, too.
Cowboy style: the rough cut steak is so fresh it is still twitching on the stick you have impaled it upon, and you give it a slight singe over the small campfire you have made using green wood, which imparts a smoky overtone to the well marbled meat. The dog is salivating. So are you. Your buddy, who only brought tube steaks, is looking at you hopefully.
Your beans, on the other hand, are nearly burned to a crisp, because you kinda forgot about them in the cast iron frying pan on the coals while you were doing your best not to overcook the steak. The dog gets the beans, which does not please him and you relinquish half your steak to your buddy, because he has the mickey of five star and you forgot to buy one. Later, the dog steals the package of wieners and eats the whole thing, plastic and all. This makes him sick to his stomach, but he is still happy. Meanwhile, the horses have slipped their hobbles and you spend four hours rounding them up. To be continued.
