SUMMARY
An interesting month in the weather business as it began on a cool wet note for the first week then followed by a mild spell between the 10th and the 15th .
Conditions cooled dramatically on the 18th and remained cool and wet through the 22nd. Mild air arrived accompanied by heavy rains and winds for the 23rd. This was in fact the wettest and the warmest period of the month.
The last week saw temperatures fall back to near normal values with more rain to top off the monthly totals.
Speaking of totals, rainfall was well above normal with 2 really wet days making the month somewhat soggy. The 22nd saw 22.8 mm while the 28th saw 19.0 mm. These 2 days combined with the on again off again rainfall push the monthly total to 76.1 mm, well above the typical 57.9 mm.
On the positive side, there was only a trace of snow recorded at the airport, well below the normal 8.4 cm.
In the record books, a mild but wet October.
