Major Projects Inventory

The provincial government’s Major Projects Inventory, which tracks the growth in the number of large-scale construction projects in B.C., suggests the number of total major projects in the province has increased.
According to the Major Projects Inventory, September 2007 edition: Eight hundred and forty-three major capital projects, worth an estimated record $134.5 billion, were planned or underway in B.C. between July and September 2007. The total may not be accurate though as several of the projects have been on the books for several years and there has been no movement. ie: ethanol plant for Prince George, that item was first mentioned on the books in 2002, and the Cariboo Gold project for Quesnel has been on the list since March of 1999 and the price tag associated with some projects has changed, case in point the Cameron Street Bridge.
it may be more accurate to look at the projects which are already underway in the province. On that matter, the capital cost of all major projects listed as under construction in B.C. is estimated at $53.3 billion, up from $51 billion in the second quarter of 2007.
- Eighteen major projects started construction in the third quarter, valued at approximately $2.3 billion.
- Ten projects completed construction in the second quarter .
Here are the projects that are on the government’s books for Prince George, Quesnel and Mackenzie as of the second quarter ( July to September 30th):

And Mt.Milligan is not actually a mckenzie area project.
It has just as much,if not more,to do with Fort.St.James.
However,both communities would benefit.
There are also a couple of other potential mining projects in the begining stages in the area providing the Liberal government has the guts to see that they get permitted if all standards are met.
The metals market needs to stay strong as well.
The next election could be won and lost on this kind of project in terms of much needed jobs.
Guess we will see who really runs this province.
John Rustad will be speaking in the Fort next week and it will be interesting to see if he has anything intellegent to say about this that we haven't heard before!
