Stony Plain RCMP Now Investigating Stereo Damage Claim
By 250 News
Staff George Harper of the RCMP in Stony Plain, Alberta says he has asked for an investigation into the report by Colin Macauley.
Macauley is a 20 year old from Prince George, who says he was pulled over on Highway 16 near Edmonton and a police officer, (Sergeant Brian Topham) punched holes in his expensive stereo system after saying he was doing a search for drugs. ( see previous story)
Staff Sergeant Harper says Opinion250 must have misunderstood his comments in that he says the RCMP will investigate the matter and then decide what to do in the complaint.

We asked Staff Sergeant Harper if Sergeant Topham had been asked if he poked holes in the stereo system, Harper said, he would not comment on the investigation, " I have, no comment’. Although he did venture that it looks like someone used a pen to poke holes in the speakers.
Harper said, “I do not have authority to offer payment for the speaker system, that comes from a different department. Besides , it’s the same, say for example, like a building contractor; you simply don’t pay just because they say you were responsible."
When Opinion250 first contacted Harper and told him about the events, he said he didn't believe the complaint because the officer would never do something like that.
Meantime Colin Macauley says the police have contacted him and asked him to provide an invoice showing the value of the damaged stereo system.
