Prince George City Hall is prepared for a special public hearing that is set for this evening.  At issue, the site that used to be home to the Backpacker Motel.  It will have to be rezoned if BC Housing is to build the transitional housing project named “Friendship Lodge”.

Some of the people in the neighbourhood have been expressing  their opposition to the proposal.  That opposition has come in the form of petitions, and letters to  City Hall.  The Miller Connaught Concerned Citizens have also submitted  an information package that outlines what they  view as an undemocratic process.

Those in favour of the project have also sent letters to City Hall, and as late as last night, were canvassing the neighbourhood collecting names   in support of the project.

Both sides will be in attendance tonight waiting for Council’s decision.

The meeting starts at 7:00 p.m.

Don't confuse me with the facts. My mind is made up.
Thank you Op250 - some balanced reporting reflecting that many people (including many neighbourhood residents) support this project.

It's the right project, in the right place, at the right time.
I live in the area and I support it too.
I live in the neighbourhood and I don't support it, its the wrong place ,around children ,schools and seniors which I am one. Why put all of the Citys problems in one area??Its not right, how do we fight back on this Issue?we can't. Moses do you live in our neighbourhood ? have you been living in Hell?? with no help from this City, we do not want more problems.
