"HANDS RAISED

The video showed the four RCMP officers arriving on the scene a few minutes later, Dziekanski backing up with his hands in the air, and suddenly he is screaming in agony on the floor.

Even as he is writhing in pain from the first jolt of 50,000 volts, he is zapped again, as the burly RCMP officers descend on him, at least two knees on his back and neck as he lies face down.

By the time the cops are finished, he is dead.

RCMP spokesman Sgt. Pierre Lemaitre subsequently told reporters that when police arrived on the scene, they tried to calm down Dziekanski, but he continued "throwing things around" until he had to be subdued. False.

Lemaitre went on to say the first Taser shot "didn't seem to have any effect on him." False.

The officers held the victim down by the shoulders face up, he said. False.

The one thing the RCMP spokesman did not mention to the media was they had seized Pritchard's home-video showing the entire incident.

Indeed, if Pritchard had not taken court action to get his video back, and then posted it on the web last week, the RCMP might well have gotten away with explanations of the incident we would generously describe as a pile of crap."

Paul Pritchard bless you! It's good to see the inquest will not take two years to get started.
Nope. his hands were down and in front of him first when he was holding the stapler. Then as he is tazered, the hands come up and the stapler flys out of his right hand. This is evident if you watch the enhanced version of the tape.
"...the RCMP might well have gotten away with explanations of the incident..."

Scary scenario! It goes to show that in this modern age of electronic gadgets it is better to tell the truth the first time around.

It reminds me of the Rodney King incident some years ago when half a dozen cops were endlessly beating the s..t out of a guy rolling around on the ground trying to shield his face from the vicious blows.

Without the video taping they would have gotten away with their untruthful account of the episode.
This stinks it looks to me like the heroes who we used to think could do no wrong have screwed up again.I guess the junior boys are lacking in the guts to take anybody on man to man or even 4 men to one....

Canadian cops are consolidating on the taser issue. They are as arrogant as ever.

Another Tazer death in Nova Scotia yesterday.
Wonder how they will spin this one?
It's getting a little silly!
"Taser International, the Arizona-based market leader in stun guns, has successfully defended itself against almost 40 wrongful death or injury lawsuits.

Although the company routinely maintains that the Taser is a safer way to control people than using guns, it warned in a 2005 training bulletin that the stun guns should be used with physical restraint techniques.

That should be done in order to minimize the length of any struggle and the use of the Taser, particularly because someone in an "excited delirium" could suffer "significant and potentially fatal health risks" from prolonged exertion as well as impaired breathing, the training bulletin said."

Training, training, training. Starting with how to correctly enter into any given situation must be improved.
"Cadets are responsible to a large extent for their own learning and development." Lightbulb moment there! What does this mean exactly?

You can go on to read about rcmp training courses. First Firearms course listed was a 5 day course. I wanted to read about the Judgmental Use of Force Training course but there was no link for that course.
" Anger Management Workshop

Description
1 day (ONE DAY????)
24 candidates
Objectives
This is a one day workshop where candidates acquire skills in verbal and non-verbal communication techniques. In addition, anger management methods are presented, implemented and practised using actual role plays and scenarios."

What's with this 1 day course here, 5 day course there? I took an esthetics course in 2002 that was just as long as the RCMP course. Now unless these officers want to do my nails or wax my legs then fine but if not more intense/longer/deeper thought on how to handle distressed people type training would be nice to see. This is serious life or death stuff here. Scary.

Doesn't anyone here read the dailies? The National Post has a long article on a US case, where Taser is being accused of intimidation, and destruction of inculpatory files. They have 11,000 members, and the entire support of the parasitic cop lobby. I have advised people here to check out Blue Line Forum, for cop fanaticism on the taser issue; I also posted R v Hannibal, a BC case in which Taser int. participated. I assumed that when I post authorititative links, then readers would have the sense to access essential data to understanding this issue. Still, both sides print crap. Posters should disclose if you take drugs that limit comprehension of facts. Get educated or STFU.

Organized policing began in Britain and colonies, after the Reform acts of 1832. Only then, did we see organized policing. Prior to that, policing in Canada was effected by individuals, assisted by a Headboro Constable, who was under the authority of Justices of the Peace. The Constable was directly responsible to the JP, who could raise a call of "Hue and Cry" (Hutesium et Clamor) which compelled Posse service. (Posse Comitatus authority existed after Confederation, but ceased to be used when a public safety apparatus was created). Cops are nothing but servants, who status borders on abject servitor.

"40 The development of modern police forces brought about a transfer of law enforcement activities from private citizens to peace officers. But it is the peace officer’s powers which are in a sense derivative from that of the citizen, not the other way around. As the House of Lords commented in Christie v. Leachinsky, [1947] A.C. 573, at p. 591, per Lord Simonds, at common law, “[i]t is to be remembered that the right of the constable in or out of uniform is, except for a circumstance irrelevant to the present discussion, the same as that of every other citizen”. See also R. E. Salhany, Canadian Criminal Procedure (6th ed. (loose-leaf)), at p. 3-8.1.

I have more respect for police dogs that for their pension-whoring handlers.

Hmmph! the only crap I see is the stuff coming from your keyboard, Truth.
It is not just the use of the taser or the criminal behavior of the police officers that should be investigated. How many hours did Dziekanski and his mother spend in the airport? The behavior of all at the airport was disgusting..... and then Berg says it's only one incident out of the millions of people who travel through YVR. How many others are there who are treated as badly but survive so we don't hear about them. I would like to see B erg fired just llke the Lottery Corp, CEO
Heidi, read a little closer on the website. You should at least try to understand the amount of training they undergo in Regina before you leap to a conclusion.

Truth,I think the men in the white coats with big butterfly nets are waiting outside your door again.
Chilako-Pete I thought I was on the RCMP website course page for Regina??? I'm talking more of the mental training not physical. Did I miss a page? Did you go through training? If so what did you think about it and what would you like seen added if anything at all? I just truly believe there doesn't need to be this many deaths (officers included) and I think starting at the beginning might help whether its in Regina or in schools educating our young children about manners, respect, and all that fun stuff. Incase you haven't noticed i'm a total dreamer :) but really I mean well and I care about people. Maybe I should be working as a Ghandi or Mother Theresa follower? (that's a joke)
Heidi's idea of the use of force continuim would include first care bear hugs then finger wags.........
I would hypnotize them with my charm and smarts ;) Who needs tasers? You need a balanced mind diggler to do a job well done or are we in the stone age again?
Heidi's idea of the use of force continuim would include first care bear hugs then finger wags.........
FYI... BCTV News will be airing statements by CIS regardng the RD incident tonight @ 6:00 PM
Thanks for that pisspulper. Did you watch the news where they said there was a video camera that was in the area of RD and after the incident it was found on a different wall. The airport denies that it was moved. It's on this video clip from Global with Ted Cherenecki:
http://www.canada.com/globaltv/bc/index.html
Hmmmmm.... very interesting!!
oh Heidi, you make me laugh. You would hypnotize them with your charm and smarts.......you would try anyway...your inability to make a split second decision would give the bad guy the opportunity to clean your clock.
Now, why don't you go down to the detachment, or at least contact someone there....the OIC, or whomever, and request to go out on a ride a long one night? You'd have to sign a waiver. I would suggest the weekend since things get real busy. Then you can get an idea of what is going on out there and make a decision based upon your personal experience and not somebody elses perceptions.
Only if i'm hooked up to live web cam.
Chicken!
No it's to make sure everyone stays honest......I can do the commentary for all the internet viewers. I can bring the sweets and you the coffee. You could call me Yogi and I could call you...uh...er...um...hm???? Depends on if you're nice or not.
While we're on the subject...are all police cars equipped with cameras in B.C.?
Sure Heidi, they can't be honest unless you are there to monitor them. I feel bad that you take the media's view for the gospel.
Medical professionals released the name of the man that Chilliwack's blue nazis left near dead a couple of days ago. He was unruly, and subject to arrest but cops chose to batter his head to use: pepper spray, asp batons, and tasers. The single picture of th e victim showed him covered in blood. As I write, his internal organs are barely operational, after the taser slowed his blood circulation.

The victim was a suspect in a hit and run, and for disorderly conduct.

Who will be the first moron to defend cop use of force? Who will forget that prior to the taser, cops had no problem using physical force to subdue suspects and escapees. All of a sudden, they don't want to mess their hair.

In the YVR taser incident, Robert D is seen tossing a computer screen (maybe worth $50, if that) on the ground, and doing it awkwardly. He was no athlete. And the Chilliwack victim of Vancouver Province induced sadism? According to that vulgar rag, his name was Robert Knipstrom, 36.
And was he a steroid pumped candidate for the WWE? He was a skinny, 5 foot 6 shorty, of less than 150 pounds. Wow!

We should fire the entire Chilliwack police service and employ the wives of those worthless, slugs. I don't call them pigs, because pork is useful; police service is junk. Message to cop apologists: don't breed.
When stupidity prospers, none have the intelligence to call it stupidity.

See this video posted on a right wing blog. State law prohibits use of tasers in a case of passive resistance. The animal raises the killer weapon as the man walks away.

To defend this conduct requires savagery; these freaks are uncivilized.

No troll I happen to have my own brain and am old enough to see the truth through my own eyes and process it. I think its time you got yourself some counselling don't you think? Something awful must've happened to make you this way. Wait a minute???? Something awful happens to everyone at least once in their lives but hmm??? we still can see right from wrong after the cloud lifts. Try lifting that cloud troll....times ticking then you're gone forever. And troll cause and effect with the lack of video proof. We have video they damn well try to pass it off as the world being crazy at what they saw...lol..nice try! There is no video and they try to pass off the world as not knowing common sense so they pretty much leave us no choice but to all walk around with our safety net....our video device.
Heidi you have so many admirers, I'm starting to get jealous!! :( He He. Was there anything on Global, re: CIS, last nite? I had to work and missed it.
lol...those guys are all bark. I remembered at 6:15, swore then ran to the tv....lol sorry! I don't see it on global website.
Is this what you meant?

I liked the idea of this paragraph:

"We had delegates and presenters from Australia, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the USA, in addition to our own home grown talents. Conferences such as these are an invaluable way to bring together people from all aspects of the forensic identification community, allowing us to consider thoughts, and experiences from a truly global perspective."
