Prince George RCMP say  the name of the person who died in a crash on Highway 97 south last evening, will not be released until all members of the family have been notified.

Last night, a  car, driven by a 61 year old woman from Quesnel,  collided with a  snowmobile trailer being hauled by a pick up truck.  The two occupants of the pick up, ( both from Prince George) were not hurt in the  crash.

The  driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene,  while the 43 year old passenger had minor injuries and was taken to Prince George Regional Hospital  .

The  crash  resulted in highway 97  being closed in both directions for  about 5 hours.    Those who were stuck in the line up of traffic say more  should have been done to  try and reopen the highway as  temperatures were  well below zero and  cars could not be left running for that length of time.

That's just sick. What if it was YOUR MOTHER/SISTER/DAUGHTER that was killed? Merry Christmas.

If they were that upset they should have taken a back road, of which there are several that would have reached Quesnel in much less than 5 hours.
What in the world would it matter if you were related to the person that was killed?

Wanting prompt action has nothing to do with diluting the tragedy of a human losing their life.
Well lets see the RCMP could leave the roads closed and do a proper investigation or open the roads to not inconvenience the people. Well if the RCMP didn't investigate the accident properly we all know that the general public would be all over them for not doing their job from start to finish.
I say we should take our hats off to the RCMP who stood out in the cold investigating this terrible accident.
GREAT JOB RCMP!
dodgit - exactly my point.

Qtown have some respect for the loss of life.
