Prince  George RCMP attended the scene of four different accidents involving ten vehicles on Highway 97 south   at the old Art Knapps this morning.

In conjunction with the Ministry of Highways the  RCMP ordered that stretch of highway closed.   The highway remained closed from Sintich Road to Buckhorn Road for  about four hours until all the vehicles could be towed from the scene.  The  roadway was reopened  about 12:35 this afternoon.

Initially Police were called to attend a roll over just before nine this morning. There was a blanket of fog, on the highway at the time of the initial roll over, and there was a chain reaction of crashes, either hitting each other  or hitting the ditch.

The scene looked like a bad game  of  bumper cars.

Police say miraculously, there was only one person who was injured, and the injury is minor.

Police are saying people continue to drive too fast for the conditions and drivers will be charged accordingly.  Among the vehicles involved were cars,  trucks  towing trailers,  a transport truck, and a number of picks ups.

And how well as the road been sanded!
Do not blame the road, blame the driver. Driving 101, drive as fast or slow as conditions dictate.
Most times it is the driver...but I was asking HAVE THE ROADS BEEN SANDED!
Obviously not
C'mon guys, YRB does not start work until eight (joking) Hello out there, you are driving too fast! If not, then you are not paying close attention to the conditions around you, aka asleep at the wheel. I tend to travel at the posted speed, whether on the hwy, or city street, winter and summer. Having 4 wd and good winter tires lends confidence to this driver, but ones maximum speed should always be determined by the road conditions, and that includes the traffic and type of geography you are travelling through. I believe that to be the best practice, when coupled with alertness.
metalman.
From the picture it appears to be.
You all are a bunch of morons. The problem was fog and driving to fast. I was there and the idiot drivers where driving to fast for what they could see. Ya the roads were snow covered that what happens when it snows. IT IS WINTER DRIVE TO ROAD CONDITIONS. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT MOVE TO FLORIDA.
I was thru there at 8am and the road was good, but we hit that fog and it was really thick and wet. I imagine it turned to ice the instant it touched the road it turned to ice. Not much YRB could do if they were not on the spot,
People need to learn how to drive for winter conditions!! And I don't mean driving at 30mph just driving catious is what needs to be done. People should know by now how to drive in PG winter weather
"MORONS" ?? I have always wanted to be part of a group... golly, now I am a moron!

Now I don't have to explain my actions anymore... I'll just grin stupidly and point to my nametag where it says "Moron"

Maybe we could get some ballcaps, tee shirts or club jackets going... "MORONS" in broad, arched lettering over a pair of wings... something like the HD logo. Classy !! Maybe even a government grant to further our minority, moronic studies.

For all you "non-morons" out there... driving ability has nothing to do with it.... it's just pure luck if you stay between the ditches in these conditions.

Goodtimes... :-)

I do not think WE are all morons, it is the drivers in the ditch at this incident that are.
You mean the drivers in the ditch were not simply victims? You know how it goes, "I was driving along and suddenly my car went out of control" Ya, you're right, that would be a maroon.
metalman.
Hey - could we change the header from "Comments" to "Comments by Morons"? That would keep buttwipes with big mouths and no cojones like MoneKate from posting.

Sticks and Stones, loudmouth.....
