The first Northern Lights Festival in Prince George is now underway on Connaught Hill.

Hundreds of thousands of  lights on static and animated displays  are   there to be enjoyed.

The Festival  organizers wantd to create a winter wonderland, and have  prvided traditional scenes,  like tumbling snowmen,  to  dinosaurs in the snow.

The Festival was created by City Centre Ventures, and will operate  thorugh to the  11th of January.

While  the cost to  take in the displays is $10 per car, you can get a discount  ticket   for $8 dollars at participating downtown businesses like The Northern ,  Plateau Clothing, Waddling Duck, JJ Springer,  The Willow Basket and Tourism Prince George.

After taking in the  light show on the top of Connaught Hill,  visitors are  welcome to  head to the Civic Centre for free hot chocolate and a  free skate on the  rink.

Who gets the money?
I'm guessing it funds the Olympics.
Much of it the same as any private enterprise ....

The companies who the lights are rented from ...... and the people who work to put the lights up and take them down ... as well as the people who planned the entire thing, other than any volunteers who have worked on putting the project together.

A privivate company would probably have a 10 to 20% profit margin planned with a fairly high contingency given that this is the first try at this and one never knows how many will actually pay to see the lights.

I am assuming that if any money is made, it will go back to feed the next year's festival and possibly grow it.

I am not sure why some people have this notion that this thing is going to be a cash cow.

G.S.T. on this dough?
