Cyclist Peddling New Hope
By Peter Ewart & Dawn Hemingway
Brian Twohig, who was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in the late 1980s, is travelling to different communities to tell his story.
After years of flare ups and doctors misdiagnosis, Twohig was finally referred to a specialist who recommended a trial drug called Humira (covered by Pharmacare).
After only two weeks of being on the drug, Twohig (shown in photo at left) claims dramatic differences in his ability to complete day to day routine tasks and now participates in various cycling trips in Franca, Italy and Spain.
The Victoria resident was in Prince George today and is hoping to visit many communities to help others who are suffering from the symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis which affects the immune system and attacks joints.
