Prince George Cycling Club  details plans for multiple trails  next door to new golf course

The Prince George Cycling Club is pressing the City of Prince George  for some changes to the Golf Club’s new  course plans.

The club says the current plan will hurt their mountain biking trails.  They suggest the City will lose a significant tourism opportunity if the trails are lost.

The Club says  working with the  City and the Golf Club, they will

  • improve the planning and safety of trails by designing, building and maintaining  the trails to international mountain biking standards
  • fund raise,
  • organize volunteers
  • manage and maintain the trails and
  • work with the city to develop long term plans.

The Club has asked Council to see that the Golf Club retain a strip for the  mountain bicycling  trails.   There is a strip that has been offered  on Crown land, but  reps say they aren't certain if their concerns have been  completely  addressed.

The Group says the pilot project they are developing means the trails  would be  built to Mountain Bike Standards so  they can get insurance to cover liability.

Does anyone know where I can see a higher resolution version of this map?
Dedicated trails will be a great idea if it is possible to keep the ATV's and motorcycles off them. In the College Hts area the ATV's are destroying the trails making them difficult to walk on and almost impossible to mountain bike.

I disagree about the dirt bikes. It was the dirt bikers that originally built all those trails and worked them in to where the mountain bikers could then come and ride them... its also the dirt bikes that keep the underbrush down once the trails have been worn in.

I will agree however that the ATV do wreck a lot of the trails and it is their units that do all the trail damage.
My experience with keepin ATV and dirt bikes of mountain bike trails is to have some tight corner and other non ATV and dirt bike friendly trail features. It doesn't take much.

Good luck with the fight PG Bikers! Don't expect much from the government, other than them tearing down your technical trail features.
