There will be a special briefing today about the Golf Course and the Pine Centre Neighbourhood Plan project.

This is the project which the developer recently backed out of , BFW a developer out of Langley pulled out of the  deal with the Golf  Club saying was too risky to do on their own.

BFW’s  Land Development Manager, John Turner, says  BFW wanted to turn the property into a business park, no heavy industry but rather an area of small businesses. "We couldn’t convince the powers to be that was the best use of the property."

When BFW announced it was pulling out, a local group expressed interest in acquiring the property.

Turner says they would be willing to work in a partnership " If the local guys want us as a partner, Okay, but it is simply too risky on our own.”

A local group has expressed interest in acquiring the property and developing it. That move would allow the Golf course to move to property on the northwest side of the city.

Cash talks, bullsh!t walks.
City council screws up again. It's funny that Pomeroys are still buying in the city, just recently purchasing the Best Western sight unseen. Obviously the margins of a residential project do not support the risk of the capital outlay. Exactly what is wrong with an additional hotel or two plus some mixed light industrial use in this area?
What is wrong with planting some fast growing deciduous trees to replace the dead pines, as well as re-planting some spruce, etc for the future and keeping it as a Golf Course?

And they will want us to pay for it I bet!
