Pomeroy President Says City Did Not Offer To Build A Plan For Golf Course
By 250 News
The President of the Pomeroy Group of Companies says to the best of his knowledge the City of Prince George did not offer to spend $60 to $80 thousand dollars to develop a plan for the golf club lands when his company partnered with BFW, (a Langley company) to explore the project.
Ryan Pomeroy says"We dealt in good faith, we couldn’t find enough comfort in the deal that we were looking at. Things don’t always work out and we are always interested in the deal, the decision was theirs."
Pomeroy says he would take another look at the project "It is a great property, has great potential, and we would still be interested in perhaps building a hotel at that location. "
He says The Pomeroy Group did not feel comfortable with the deal,"We worked on it for two years, and we put lots of money into the project along with a good deal of time. The City of Prince George however did not at any time offer to develop a plan for the golf course that I am aware of,."
Yesterday, the City announced it will be hiring a consultant to develop a neighbourhood plan for the property which is the current home to the Prnce George Golf and Curling Club, the Pine Centre Mall, Pine Valley Golf Course and the Prince George Playhouse.

Developers will be able to look the "plan" and decide whether it is financially feasible. Most developers will tell you the city doesn't have a good handle on that end of a project. Therefore this is a exercise.
If the plan isn't a money maker, the golf course members aren't going anywhere as no one would be interested. This going to be interesting! At least the developer doesn't have to recoup the costs the taxpayers are to pay on this one.
