Merry Christmas ! I just killed your family in a motor vehicle accident !

Idiot.
South America and Turkey see that there is no second time around....guaranteed you never get caught for impaired driving again.
Sometimes I think their idea might have some merit....
For the price of a taxi.....people take it upon themselves to possilby hurt or kill someone....
selfish people.
Taxi and the Keys Please service where I think it's by donation isn't it? You get home safely, legally and so does your vehicle. Yes selfish and an endless battle. I think BCRacer is spot on with no second chances as the person you hit may not have a second chance.
It's too bad that people that make the right decision to leave the car at home and take a taxi are punished with 45 minute to 1.5 hour wait times when they want to go home.

There would be a good amount of business for those wanting to run an illegal taxi operation - I wonder if the police would look the other way in the name of public safety.
Taxi and the Keys Please, excellent idea. I have used similiar service down south, albeit a different name. For a few dollars more than a cab ride, you get home safe and so does your vehicle. Another bonus is you don't have to fetch your vehicle in the morning, you get to focus on nursing the hangover instead.
The penalties for drunk driving in B.C.are too lenient!
But then,so are most other penalties in B.C.courts.
First offense should be a minimum 3 year suspension and a fine of $3000 bucks.
Second offense should be a 10 year suspension and 3 months in the slammer. And if thats not enough and there is a 3rd time,a lifetime suspension would be in order plus 3 years in the tank.
Kill or injure someone and it's an automatic 10 years in the tank.
Then all those who think stiff penalties don't work would have something to bitch about!
They DO work, but for some reason there are those that think we cannot afford to put them in jail, blah, blah, blah...
Do it anyway and we might just be suprised how well it works.
A vehicle with drunk driver is a deadly weapon, and should be treated as such!We will never know unless we try it.
With operation red nose now operating,
there is absolutely no excuse to drive after drinkin...
It operated by donation and it gets both the occupants and the vehicle home...

So anyone caught now should be tossed in jail for the rest of their miserable lives.
There is no real good excuse for drinking and driving. but blowing .16. This would mean that one will likely would have meant to have drank at least four to five drinks in two hours. Then get behind a set of wheels on those street conditions. Lucky she only had a fender bender.

I am sure every one of you throwing your two bits on have driven after one drink.

Remember 10 - 15 years ago, when we would drive after closing down the bars. Peoples thinking sure has changed. It has changed for the better.

AndyFreeze hits the nail on the head. Well said dude.

Our provincial and federal gov't surplus could pay for a cell and three squares for lots of these a-holes that break the law and put my family, myself and my friends in harm's way.

I'd also like to see no pool tables, tv's, or other luxuries in jails. There should be manditory, intensive trades and education training in jails at whatever learning level they're at. Early release or parole should be completely related to the completion of a course or trade.

They should also be manufacturing goods intended for the homeless and families under the poverty line. It should also be manditory for them to make clothing for inmates and corrections staff and to make matresses, shoes, furniture, and other items that the jail or people living in poverty would need.

There are lots of things they should be doing that they're not currently doing. I'd be a lot more satisfied if my tax dollars were being spent more proficiently on new ideas and longer sentences for moron criminals.
You are right on all counts, guys.
We should not tolerate this anymore.
metalman.
Excellent suggestions there steeliepete!! When my newly hatched infant enters this world, i'll be sure to enroll her/him in the Criminal 101 course, hence i can avoid paying for an alternate education, which unlike myself who was too stupid to realize at the time that generous people like yourself would honourably support my delinquent ways and take jobs away from more deserving persons.
Many people do not agree with jail time as a deterent to criminal ways, mainly due to the cost of keeping them there and they just don't think it does any good.
If we started putting them away for serious time, maybe, just maybe, after a some of the lowlife criminals saw what was happening to their buddies, they might just decide it wasn't worth it.
I recently met a guy who was a real winner back in the day I guess, and ended up getting 12 years in the slammer for assault during a robbery at a gas station.
Since he got out,he has married and become a productive citizen.
He seemed like a decent guy with a good job and good attitude.
He had been straight for 9 years with no dope and no booze.
And he didn't mind talking about his past issues either.
He said the reason for the turn around was because NOTHING in this world was worth spending 12 years in jail for.
He also said he would rather be dead than go back to jail!
When I asked him if he though prison was a good deterent he said YES!...but only if you have been there and served time!
So what are we really missing here?
And oh ya...he also said these mamby pamby punks caught up in the revolving door system our courts seem to use now, would not last a day without crying for their mummy's in a maximum security prison.
Why does that not come as a suprise?
Simple solution for the drinking drivers that are caught. First impound their vehicles. Secondly, mandatory entry into hit to pass with their own vehicles along with all others that have been caught driving impaired. Thirdly, once entered into the hit to pass make sure they have a several coctails before the race... Let them crash into each while destroying their vehicles.
